Lagos discloses identity of fresh Ebola victim

Victim still alive
Dispels rumour of 8 other victims
MERELY coming short of ‎outright mention of the names of the latest victim of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Lagos State, the state government Tuesday gave an insight into the identity of the victim, who is currently receiving treatments at undisclosed hospital in Lagos.
The victim, according to the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, is female medical doctor. He was, however, silent on if she was the doctor treating the Liberian victim who died in Lagos.

Also in attendant at media briefing held at the Central Public Health Laboratory, Yaba, Lagos, was the Director General ‎of Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Prof. Abdulsalami Nassidi, as well as other health officials from both the Federal and Lagos State Governments.
Idris, saying that the state government is doing all possible to curtail the spread of the virus to the level being witnessed in other West African countries, disclosed that the family of the latest victim as well as all others who may have had physical contacts with the Liberian victim and the doctor  are under tight surveillance of the health officials.
The Guardian gathered, however, that the female doctor victim is receiving treatment in a hospital around Lagos mainland.
Idris warned that anybody with suspicious case of disease should alert the state government through the Rapid Response on Ebola team of the emergency lines. He insisted that the outbreak is a national emergency in the country and hands must be on deck. The commissioner disclosed that the government is equipped with
necessary tools to arrest the spread.
